August Eve
Brisk air, flashing lights,
Mesmerising through wild blue yonder,
Celestial moon, growing fonder.

let's take to the street.
Leave behind our inhibitions
Leave behind our premonitions
Let’s take to the street.
Let’s take to the skies
Brimming with our innovations
Brimming with new revelations
Let’s take to the skies.
Let’s take to the sands
Tear away our old sensations
Tear away our new salvations
Let’s take to the sands.
Let’s take to the seas
Drown our acceptations
Drown our manipulations
Lets take to the seas.
Lets sit here together
Breathe infatuation
Breathe sweet comprehension
Lets sit here together.

setting sands
Under their overwhelmed
Toes.
The warmth of his hand
Clasping hers
Singing don’t let go
Don’t evaporate
Stay.
Your eyes
Accentuated by the perilous blue
Of the ocean exterior.
I want to go to the seaside
She whispers
She murmurs
As a familiar crinkled expression
Fabricates his persona.
The red of her lips
Dappled by afternoon glow
Ignites the horizon.
As the day
Transgresses into the bold night
They do not move
But breathe, sit, wait,
There is no need
To indulge your senses
When the full
Entirety of this
Joyously thrilling
And bitterly confusing globe
Is lying deep in your
Disbelieving arms.
Years ahead he lies there still
Harder breathing, harder hearing,
Harder to feel the crunch beneath your toes
Hard to remember.
The glow on her lips
The blue of her eyes
The feel of her deep
Consolidating breaths
Synchronising his.
He enters the blue
Only to birth his emotions
In an outflow
Unnoticed in the torrent.
He remembers her
Smile,
And in undertones he stammers,
I’ll always hold you.

goodbye
To fly swift away,
To surrender ourselves,
Under the cover of day.
I don’t want you to cry,
To fall on the path,
To soak our pure dreams
In a despondent bath.
I don’t want you to see me
Not now anymore
I want you sparkle
To end our cold war.
I don’t want you too miss me,
To bethink me at dawn
To treasure my temper
To forget that I’m gone
I don’t want you to say
When you glance in my eye
I’ll see you real soon
I love you goodbye.
pain
Splattered across
Frozen floors and battered
Walls.
Not a single word
Escapes your bitter mouth
Scowls forming on
Crooked notes.
Smiles and laughs
Ruined
By ruthless eviction notices
Crawl inside like
Parasites
And scrounge at already
Broken lives.
Lies and truths
Strewed into heartless
Facades, produced to
Insinuate hatred, rage.
Cold brutal stares
Frighten young
Boys
Barricaded by
Hagged watchkeepers
Watching
Waiting
Until you step one foot wrong
And bang
Silence.
Eerie silence,
Worse than nightmares
Of massacres and murders
Of snakes and spiders
Of bickers and brutality
The war we face
Is faced at home
And so I cower
All alone.
girl like boy
Her short ragged hair thrashes about
Under those scorching lights of heroic progressiveness
A blue scarf tucks around her
Finely tapered features
Her loose round neck floats around her body
Creating a shapeless illusion of whom
Cheating reality and surpassing science
Girl like Boy.
This like is not a lust
But a being.
Not something created by the honoured man above
But something signed from conceptual arrangement
Of fantasy and dreams
Something made of internals not bone.
Those light batons of electricity
Reminiscent of a live wire
Sparks fly from her carved hands, masculine
She may not be a stereotype
But people idolise her posture, stature
Speech or lack thereof
Girl like Boy.
Cheers echo in her hollow bottle
Applause shakes her unfitted trouser leg
She takes a bow
She may not be She, but he
He
Is truly astounding.

perfect
and darkness spread across the rolling hills
lit only moments before by a broken horizon
coloured by shades of raven and passion
as the gods raised their hands
in celebration of the days past
and moments shared
she rose.
clothed in white of purity and dreams
she took her first breath, mesmorsing
as she opened her eyes the birds cried
is relentless awe of the stories shared
through those piercing blue pearls
reflecting themselves.
The earth was speechless
The trees searched for words to describe her
but as the perfection of her silenced all
she was alone.
She cried a tear frozen by the
snow cold morning
as the tears poured out her face froze
agony encompassed her.
She collapsed slowly as dawn broke
and the gods sighed
another failed attempt at creating
one that is perfect.
pushing up daisies
I’m so over every poet
Who writes about never ending love
Heartbreak
Sorrow
And all those
Cliché emotions
.. ..
I mean who are we kidding
Life is full of obsequiousness
Piacular objectives
And just general
Continual
And utter ennui
.. ..
It’s all vacant stares
And void decisions
At every turn
There are signs and symbols
And meaningless phrases that we spatter
And mutter
To cover up our blank internals
.. ..
Oh yeah im fine
Whos fine
The worlds fine?
Destructions fine?
Your low morale is fine
Bullshit
.. ..
That’s all it is
Bullshit
That’s what we feed ourself
Lies
Complete lies
Or half-truths
Silencing non-traumatic
Borderline pathetic
And empty experiences that generate from years
Behind some ikea desk
With some fat, slobby guy
With a doughnut
Shouting at you to keep it up
Or work harder
.. ..
That’s a good one
Work harder.
Ha
All we ever do is work
Is crawls inside and eats our passion
Like parasites sucking our blood
Our life
Out of us
So we are left with some
Rueful, useless and lamentable shell
Of what used to be joy
.. ..
But who cares right.
Life all fun we say
Lifes all great
So why not live a life of deception
Excessive piteous gestures
And poor doleful relationships
.. ..
Why not eh?
.. ..
That’s what we want.
Well that what the poets say
Name me one poem that doesn’t end in a death?
.. ..
Even this one does
through painful, placid regression
We ourselves
Are pushing up daisies.
cherry walls
Where the twisted vines taper her feet
Climbing and ripping at her
Fragile skin which surrounds that
Crisp, white bone.
Solid as the earth itself even though inside
Deep magnificent rumblings
Like the ravenous magma dwelling in the
Earths coreDisturbs no-one
Except stresses her internals
But although her conscience
Doesn’t knock her poker face
Sturdy but weary.
Busily she shuffles down those cobblestones
Where the rocks forces her feet to connect
Brethalyses her heart for a lack of belief
A roar of resistance.
She doesn’t give in, not ever
Not for his grappling voice that creeps in the horrors
Of those terrifying walls, with cherry red walls
Her favourite.
Now it reminds her more of the carnage
Not dissimilar to that of a placid white rabbit
Torn to pieces by a ferocious and unmistakable
Ruthless and unpredictable lion.
He was like a lion, when she took one
Just one perfectly manicured toe out of line
He’d roar, he’d roar and she’d collapse.
She never liked those shag-pile carpet floors
She felt that things could get entangled and lost
Simply dissolving issues
Never resolved simply dissolved.
She never really liked him or that gun
The two of them together seemed an unlikely combination
So he became melancholy
But she never worried
She never shook the walls
But when she’d found something
Resembling him
Marked with chalk around the edge of his limbs
Stained with that cherry red
Of those terrifying walls
She had simply stepped back
It was an unlikely combination she thought.
Busily she shuffles down those graveyard steps
She thought cheerily
I’ll visit him
I’m sure he’d appreciate a lovely visit
Something personal.
But something told her that her personality
Wouldn’t quite be present.
She felt intrigued
She felt touched
She didn’t quite know what to feel.
Bang.She was with him.
And she couldn’t feel anything at all.
like colours
Flashing lights
Passing signs
And unfamiliar
But all too familiar
Ghosts.
.. ..
Passively changing expectations
Challenging authoritative
Personas.
.. ..
In the shadows you posed
Surrounded by smoke
And tiny fairy lights
Highlighting
Your stark bones
Your bare structure.
.. ..
A glance I speculated
Into deep green eyes
Ivy
Poison ivy.
.. ..
As eternity goes by
We meet in darkened
Corners
Public
But so intensively
Incredibly
integrally
private.
.. ..
On sunlit plains
Shades of green
And white
Autograph the lines that
Separate our
Storylines
That we scroll
foresaken.
.. ..
Splashes of blue
Highlight obscurity
And joy.
Perfect, you were
Perfect.
No.
Almost perfect
As perfection
In placid
And placid
Is one quality
We lack
.. ..
Contradictory
Satisfactory
Complimentary
Like colours
We amaze.
magnetic
I’m lost
In that bluish light
Radiating from your eyes
Your hilarity and possible
Integrity
Draws me to you
Magnetic nights
.. ..
Passive love
Serenades
Your whispers of
Lust, breath
Are louder than your thoughts
Commit.
When your eyes intersect mine
And then dart in haste away
Your unperceivable emotions
Run free
Under those fragmentary neon lights.
.. ..
I descry the lack
Of undisciplined innocence
When you tenure my hand in yours
It’s not a handshake
It’s an emitting of
Paramount electricity
I feel it.
I possess it.
Inconspicuous your feelings may be
But to me
They are nothing but crystal halcyon.
.. ..
When the moon sets for the
Antipodal second
Of reprised time
And the last glass
Dead corona soldier
Is kicked under the
Laquered barriers
You hold me
I don’t apprehend
What this is
But to me
Is prodigious.
.. ..
You bow down
To your hidden emotions
A game of hide and seek
And you establish them.
Our lips touch
Once
A shock buzzes through
My hurried heart
Bide here the sign says
So I linger
In his arms
So right.
gum tree
My father always used to say to me
As a means of expressing everything just
simply
Without complex reasoning and tireless
justification
I love you more than the tallest gum tree.
You were tall, not quite 6’2
But with shoulders to rival eagles wings
At ease in the water, crisp, clear, blue
You stole me in no more than a glance.
Strong and tanned your arms caressed me
Your callused fingers brushing my alabaster
skin
Tangling my otherwise unidentifiable blonde
hair
Your eyes met mine, that devastating smile.
Every moment you took to whisper
Be mine, my electric girl, my beautiful
stranger
I’d smile a smile so broad it’s blinding
Kiss you with more passion than ever.
Time apart seems so endless
You never leave me though, not now or then
I miss you every perfect night, my angel
boy
silent nights
Shuddered lights and shining streets
Paraded by single cars
Their harsh black wheels
Taunting the imperfect soil
Harsh tears pound the roof of
That rickety box.
Although paths are few and rough
Anticipation builds amongst
Smokey eyed socialites
Heels viciously tapping to the
Fleeting beat of the sound.
As they climb the
Steepening driveway
Music thrashed the subdued air
Familiar faces appear
As pronounced introductions are made.
A seductive young blonde seems
Extroadinarily enthused
To see a certain curly haired boy
We laugh the kind of laugh
That lets us know
This silent night will be perfect.
Miniature tennis played amongst
Unaware spectators
All sipping from cold bottles
Editing judgement
But enhancing excitement.
Two clicks of a lock
And two become together
A sly dangerous plan
Cunningly mastered in twilight
Lips meet, proposals drawn.
Another couple disappear into
Threateningly darkened woods
Only to encounter blissful embraces
Secrets shared on rusty old utes
Fingers running through dampened hair.
Sequences of numbers
Leave another two lost
In the same eerie woods
Only to discover the same
Breathtaking fate.
Finally as doors are closed
And bottles emptied and lips are sealed
We stumble from the simple
depths of night
and whisper about perfect silent nights.
i already miss you
Its midnight on torn streets
Its sunlight in ragged skies
But no-matter where I am
I already miss you.
Its latenight on the radio show
Its bright eyes on television screens
But no-matter what they say
I already miss you.
Its soft cries in the parklands
Its shattered ties in hollow stores
But no-matter what I dream
I already miss you.
Its harsh fights on the court steps
Its smooth guys on the boulevard
But no-matter who I’m with
I already miss you.
Its high flights in the lost blues
Its stunning sights in the city
But no-matter when it is
stars
she falls
sedated by a glamourous glass
tumbler
she's not longer a movie star
her long blonde locks
tangled into heartless knots
her masacra smudged
from rolling tears
tears of laughter
that echoes through starry
skies.
He leads her to the light
laughs at the
ravenous holes in her ebony stockings
he mind wanders elsewhere
possibly on the ground
to where she next falls
black.
He worries.
She awakes.
She laughs.
Grabbing another swig of his
contradictory thrills
she presses her cool lips against his
breathing in his last cigarette
she giggles
swaggers
falls.
Unaware she lingers in the evening.
the flashing evening lights
seduce her
drag her into a world of
intrigue.
She loves it.
And it loves her
does a smile breach your face
When reflection does appear
Does the harsh familiar world
Confirm entire fears.
Do you seem to know that girl
With ragged locks so torn
Or does she seem so far away
Deserted and forlorn.
Did you leave an empty shell
A carcass of a soul,
Did you say you’ll see her soon
And leave her no extol.
Did you see her waste away
Did you see her weep,
Did you see her stare blankly back
Did you see her sleep.
Did you see her there at all
Did you see an empty room
Did you see her standing torn
Did you see her filled with gloom.
For these questions are yet for you
To ponder in your dream
To swallow you in every step
Are you all you seem.
insobriety
stolen purses and neon lights,
clambering, stammering
blurring, slurring,
Standards dropped as bottles popped.
Skirts up, skirts down,
Liquored up, they hit the town.
Insobriety in high society
Hard beats on dirty streets,
Censored lust beneath the sheets.
Scotch on ice, bad advice,
Kills and thrills for admission price,
Heart tattoos, perilous views,
Broken shoes and heartless ruse.
Dawn drawn, filled with scorn
In morning light they are reborn
Buttons done, hair in buns,
Moonlit shadows harshly shun.
Bright lights, civil rights
In hope they wait for foolish nights.
